CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
ln February2O2O, Sierra Unified School District (SUSD) authorized SIM-PBK Architects, lnc. (SlM-PBK) to develop a District-wide Long Range Facility Master Plan (LRFMP) in order to evaluate and document the general conditions of existing District-owned facility assets and to provide planning recommendations. This LRFMP provides SUSD administrators and staff with the knowledge and information needed to make well-informed decisions with regard to facility needs – both near and long-term. This document is intended to be a living “roadmap” for the future of SUSD schools, easily updated as circumstances change and evolve.  In 2024, K-12 Partners took the LRFM and created the needs assessment.  The needs assessment outlines the immediate facility needs and priorities that will be addressed first with Measure U funds.

SUSD FACILITIES SUB-COMMITTEE

The Facilities Sub-Committee of the Sierra Unified School District (SUSD) serves as a critical advisory body focused on the planning, maintenance, and long-term modernization of district infrastructure. The committee's work is currently centered on the implementation of the Measure U Bond, which provides approximately $24 million for essential repairs and upgrades across the district's campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborating with district leadership to update and execute the Long Range Facility Master Plan Construction Managment Home Page(LRFMP), a living "roadmap" that evaluates the condition of all district-owned assets.
  • Project Oversight: Reviewing priority projects funded by Measure U, including the repair of leaky roofs, modernization of HVAC systems, and the removal of hazardous materials like asbestos, lead, and mold.
  • Campus Modernization: Advising on the Sierra High School Modernization Project, which includes selecting best-value contractors to upgrade aging learning environments.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring that all facilities remain safe, efficient, and accessible, supporting a learning environment that extends from classrooms to athletic fields and playgrounds.

Accountability & Transparency

The sub-committee works in tandem with the Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee to ensure that every dollar from Measure U remains local and is spent exactly as intended by voters. This includes overseeing annual independent audits and providing regular updates to the SUSD Board of Trustees.
