SUSD Contractor Selection Announcement
2/12/25
Sierra Unified School District Selects Mark Wilson Construction (MWC) for Sierra High School Modernization Project Sierra Unified School District is pleased to announce the selection of MWC as the Lease-Leaseback contractor for the Sierra High School Modernization Project. This decision follows a rigorous best-value selection process in accordance with California Education Code Section 17406, ensuring that the chosen contractor provides the highest quality services at the best overall value for the District.
On December 16, 2024, the Board approved the Lease-Leaseback delivery method for the project and initiated the competitive selection process. The District received proposals from three highly qualified general contractors: BMY, MWC and Soltek Pacific.
Each proposal was evaluated using a three-tiered scoring process:
- Qualifications & Experience (200 points)
- Fee Proposal (100 points)
- Interview & Reference Checks (50 points)
Following interviews with all three firms and a thorough reference review, MWC attained the highest total score and was deemed the best value for the District. A link to the full tabulation of the scoring criteria can be found here.
With this selection and board approval, MWC will now begin pre-construction services, working with the Darden Architects and the district to complete the design process. After Department of State Architect (DSA) approval of the design, MWC will conduct the sub-contractor bidding process with district staff to determine a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) and enter into a LLB agreement with the District, which will be presented to the Board for approval at a later date.
Project Funding: The Sierra High School Modernization Project is funded through Measure U Bond Sales, with a construction estimate of $18,949,500.00. Measure U was passed by voters in the November 2024 General Election.
