Sierra High School (SHS) is a comprehensive four-year high school founded in 1921. It is located in a beautiful valley between the foothill communities of Tollhouse, Prather, and Auberry, approximately 35 miles from downtown Fresno. The district is located in Fresno County and draws students from a 2,100 square mile area.

Many outdoor enthusiasts reside in the SHS district. Ranching, public utilities, the U.S. Forest Service, the state division of forestry, logging and outdoor recreational activities such as skiing, water sports, sailing, camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking make up the area’s economic base.

Of the 300 students currently attending Sierra High, some live above the 7,000-foot elevation, and many live in the foothills, while others come from the San Joaquin Valley floor.

Elevating Education with Excellence.

Sierra High School truly offers all of our students a mountain of opportunities. Unlike other larger districts, our small-school environment allows our staff to know all the students and work with them as individuals.

We take pride in the fact that we offer students a diverse range of academic and activity-driven experiences as they grow to become well-rounded young adults. A student may choose a pathway to a career as a welder or want to pursue entry into an Ivy League or UC University. At Sierra, they can do either or both. Students can participate in our national award-winning agriculture and FFA program, over 25 different athletic programs, music, art, and a student leadership program leading to a business/marketing career pathway. All of this on a campus where all the teachers know your name, counselors guide their plan, and every senior completes a hands-on learning and service project under the guidance of a mentor.

As grand as the surrounding mountain environment, so too are the opportunities for all who attend Sierra High School in achieving the next level of achievement and success.
