Recovery & Resiliency

Recovery & Resilience is the Sierra Unified School District department that plans the K-12 after school programs and summer school. Monday through Thursday, students can participate in homework help and enrichment activities run by SUSD teachers, staff and community members at FES, SJHS, and SHS. The program is open to all students in the district and is free of charge. The enrichment class schedules change every six to eight weeks, giving students the opportunity to participate in different activities throughout the year. The programs begin when the school day ends, and the late bus is available for students in the program. Please contact your child's school site for a late bus permission slip.

Students will have an opportunity to work with teachers to improve their math and ELA skills through intervention time, take part in enrichment activities such as project-based learning, and spend time with their peers during activity time.

Students currently in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to complete up to 10 credits through an independent study summer school using our online platform, APEX. Classes are completely online, but each student will be assigned a Sierra Unified teacher to support them as they work through their class(es). Teachers will be available by video, phone or email. Opportunities for in-person instruction will also be available if desired, but it is not mandatory. Both credit recovery and original credit courses will be offered for those students with impacted schedules and must be first approved by the student’s counselor.
